    Grape agate, also known as botryoidal chalcedony, is a variety of chalcedony, made up of crystallites of quartz and has a botryoidal morphology (that is, formed of small interconnected spheres resembling a bunch of grapes).

    The analyses, particularly by Raman spectroscopy, show that this is not an agate, contrary to what its commercial name implies.

    It is very often purple, less often white, gray, green, or blue.

    The type locality of grape agate is the beach of Manakarra, on the Indonesian island of Sulawesi.
