👉 Authentic professional wind chime, part of a series of 5, corresponding to the 5 seasons in Chinese medicine.

The manufacture of these chimes, well known since 1992 under the name “Shanti”, was completely redesigned and innovated in 2010, in order to once again ensure the creation of a quality instrument, with a crystalline sound rich in harmonics.

Thanks to 25 years of experience in creating these chimes, and in close cooperation with the skilled craftsmen in our workshop, the new “Zaphir” chime is now available in various tones and colours.

The soundbox wall is made of very thin layers of long-fiber wood cellulose, calendered under high pressure. Through a spiral and airtight winding of the multiple layers, a cylinder is obtained that is simultaneously thin, hard, and flexible; three essential acoustic qualities to give the Zaphir chime its warm tone and crystalline sound.

The dimensions of the chime, very specifically chosen, corroborate the natural principles of balance linked to the famous “golden ratio”, and prove to be fundamental to the quality of the sound waves.

The “magical” melody of each chime is obtained by tuning eight metal rods, the “musical strings” of the Zaphir, each calibrated to a precise length and silver-soldered into a metal ring at the base of the chime. After the instrument is assembled in the resonating tube, the chime is tuned again by hand to fine-tune the interaction of the fundamental harmonics in a circular and infinite motion…

The decoration of the Zaphir is based on a very specific marbling technique obtained by “oil painting on water”, specially developed and perfected by the Zaphir workshop, which gives the chime its unique design and allows a wide range of shimmering hues.

The outside of the sound box is protected by a layer of water-based varnish, meeting the “Ecolabel, Toy standards – EN71-3” standard.

The interior is protected by a “Green Label” water-based paint, and the protection of the black-stained wooden parts is ensured by a wax.

The Zaphir wind chime requires no special maintenance for indoor use. For outdoor use, it is highly recommended to clean the chime and then regularly apply a coat of water-based varnish, as experience has shown excellent resistance to wear and tear, even after many years!
