👉 Jasper has been known since ancient times: its name comes from the Greek iaspis , which referred to speckled or spotted stones. It is found in many ancient civilizations (Egypt, Mesopotamia, Greece, Rome) where it was used to make seals, amulets, and protective jewelry.
Dalmatian Jasper , with its creamy appearance speckled with black, is more recent in the history of gemstones. Discovered mainly in Mexico , it was immediately appreciated for its playful appearance reminiscent of the coat of the Dalmatian dog, hence its name.
In modern lithotherapy traditions, this stone is said to help restore the carefree spirit of childhood , promote good humor, playfulness, and protect against negative energies. Its association with the animal world and the black spots reminiscent of footprints mean that it is sometimes called the stone of animal trainers , believed to strengthen the bond with them.
