Deep within the volcanic mountains, the earth had been rumbling for millennia. One day, a flow of black lava erupted from the ground, burning like the primordial fire. As it cooled abruptly, it transformed into a dark and shining stone: obsidian.

But some drops of lava held a secret. As they solidified very slowly, tiny feldspar crystals formed inside. They appeared like white flakes trapped in the volcanic night. This is how snow obsidian , the starry black stone, was born.

The ancients said it was the meeting of fire and snow, of chaos and peace. They said it helped to see clearly in the turmoil, to find calm even in the midst of the inner volcano.
