👉 Movable bridge for quickly changing the fundamental key.

Fine-tuning using tiger's eye stone beads

The monochord is a wooden body strung with many strings. All the steel strings are tuned to the same pitch.

When played evenly with the fingers, a "standing tone" is created, an intense and harmonious sound field.

Our monochords have very good sound properties and pronounced harmonic sounds.

All the strings pass over a bridge. If you move it, the fundamental tone can be changed at will with one hand.

📋 Information sheet

Characteristic Information
Name Monochord
Origin Greek Antiquity (attributed to Pythagoras in the 6th century BC)
Description An instrument with one (sometimes several) strings stretched over a soundbox, used to demonstrate tonal and harmonic relationships.
Traditional materials Wood for the body, gut or metal strings
Original function Scientific and educational tool: study of acoustics, musical intervals and mathematical proportions (the famous "Pythagorean harmonics")
Game technique The string is plucked or bowed, and a movable bridge allows the vibrating length to be changed to create different pitches.
Sound Its sound was clear, pure, and not very powerful, similar to a zither string.
Modern applications - Still used in music education
- Contemporary version in music therapy / sound therapy : a monochord with several strings tuned in unison to create a relaxing vibrational soundscape
Symbolism Universal harmony, the link between music, mathematics, and the cosmos
