Discovered several centuries ago in Karelia , shungite takes its name from the village of Shunga .

It was already used by the inhabitants to purify water thanks to its absorbent properties.

In the 17th century, Tsar Peter the Great is said to have built the first Russian therapeutic spa around springs of water enriched with shungite.

Today, it remains an iconic stone of protection and natural purification , unique in the world.
